SCHOLARSHIPS
UNDERGRADUATE:
The Economics Department has the following scholarships available for Entering and Continuing Economics majors:
Howard-Karsten Endowed Scholarship for Undergraduates: The recipient of this scholarship should be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident of the United States. The recipient should have a GPA of no less than 3.5 and be a senior by the start of the academic year for which the scholarship is awarded. The recipient of the Howard-Karsten Scholarship is nominated by the Department of Economics based on the above requirements. The award is for tuition and fees for 12 credit hours each semester for two semesters. This scholarship is announced in March for the following academic year.
Jewell J. and LaRue J. Rasmussen Outstanding Junior Scholarship: The recipient of this scholarship should have a GPA of no less than a 3.5 and should be a senior by the start of the academic year for which the scholarship is awarded. The award is for in-state tuition and fees for 12 credit hours each semester for two semesters. The recipient is nominated by the Department of Economics based on the above requirements. This scholarship is announced in March for the following academic year.
Departmental Scholarships: The Department of Economics offers several departmental scholarships through the University of Utah Financial Aid and Scholarship Office. These awards are for entering and continuing students. Please see the University of Utah General Catalog, Undergraduate Financial Assistance Section for Financial Aid and Scholarship's qualifications. These awards are for in-state tuition for 12 to 18 credit hours each semester for two semesters. These scholarships are announced in March for the following academic year. No fees are paid with these awards.
