Call me Joy!

Hi!  My name is Charamporn  Holumyong but everyone calls me by my nickname--Joy.

I come from Thailand, and I am a Ph.D. student in economics at the University of Utah.  To the left you will find buttons taking you to:

  • my curriculum vita

  • the course I am teaching this Spring Semester--Econ 2020, Principles of Macroeconomics

  • my teaching evaluations

This is my dissertation advisor, Peter Philips.  Click on him to go to his web page.

My Research:

The literature on globalization has focused on the movement of capital and commodities and the flow of jobs overseas.  The other dimension of globalization is the movement of labor to the United States.  Immigrant labor are found in many industries.  One of the industries with the most immigrants is construction.  My research analyzes why construction is amenable to the use of immigrant workers and what the effect of employing increasing numbers of immigrant construction workers has on 1) native born workers, 2) the industry itself and 3) the immigrant workers themselves.

For my masters degree, I did research in international finance and my focus in my bachelors work was in marketing.

This is my sister.

My Teaching:

Currently I am teaching the Principles of Macroeconomics and assisting in a Health Economics course.  I also enjoy teaching mathematics and statistics for economics and business majors.  To go to my teaching evaluation page:
